"Perhaps we could hardly find a better experience of the past which expresses the body than gymnastics. I Believe, in gymnastic, for the body and music for the mind."

Emerald City Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics' Aria Rodli is selected to the US National Team

Aria Rodli, an incoming ninth-grader at Coronado High School, has been selected for the US National Team for Rhythmic Gymnastics. Members of this team represent the United States at major international competitions. 13-year-old Aria won the honor at the 2010 Visa Championships, the highly esteemed US national championships for gymnastics held last week in Hartford, Connecticut. She finished in 5th place overall among the top junior athletes from across the country. All competitors at the Visa Championships must first succeed at regional qualifying events, and Aria was the only gymnast from the San Diego area in either rhythmic or traditional artistic gymnastics who qualified to attend.

During the school year as well as the summer, Aria trains an average of 25 hours per week with San Diego’s Emerald City Academy of Rhythmic Gymnastics (www.emeraldcityrhythmics.com). Aria is coached there by Masha Krakovskaya, a former national team member herself. Even with her demanding training schedule, Aria maintained a 4.0 grade point average for all three years at Coronado Middle School where she also enjoyed a wonderful group of friends.
